During a US radio talk back program, Coach Harbaugh's wife called in to slam her husband's poorly fitting US$8 Wal-Mart kahaki's. Ouch! The only reason this came to my attention was an email I received, based on my subscription preferences, from New York men's label Bonobos. I received an email from Bonobos with a copy of an open letter to the San Francisco 49ers coach offering to help him with 10 pairs of Bonobos better fitting khakis and a donation of US$10,000 to his chosen category. Of course, the Coach had to accept the Bonobos offer in order to have the donation made to his chosen charity. I'm waiting on confirmation from the Bonobos PR team to see how that worked out. How Do You Find These Opportunities? The not so obvious answer is social media. With the right tools to Listen, Engage and Market with, you can reach your target audience with slightly left of centre campaigns. |
